Fountain Hills Public Art
The Cultural and Civic Association Public Art Committee is fundraising for a new bronze statue named Athena’s Prayer.
The concept for this sculpture was originally conceived by artist James Muir (a well-known Sedona artist who created other pieces such as “Band of Brothers”, “Some Gave All”, and “Cornerstones of Freedom”) after a conversation with Arizona and Sedona resident Lieutenant Tiffany Kravec-Kelly (one of the first female combat soldiers who served two tours in Iraq). Tiffany’s wish was that James would consider creating a memorial recognizing the contribution of women who serve in the military.
The artist has loaned us the sculpture which is currently on display in Fountain Hill’s Veterans Memorial Park. This gives the Committee six months to try to raise funds to purchase this amazing piece. Please help us with this endeavor. Anyone donating $500 or more will get their names on the plaque.
